Sakhalin Energy drills first offshore gas wells in Russia

Sakhalin Energy Investment Company commenced drilling of first wells from the Lunskoye-A platform.

This platform will be the first gas producing offshore platform in Russia, located in Lunskoye gas and condensate field some 15 kilometers offshore North-Eastern Sakhalin. The platform is designed for a year-round operation in a harsh climate and withstands rough seas, severe ice conditions and high seismic activity.

Aker Kvaerner completes offshore commissioning project in Brazil

Aker Kvaerner has completed its two first offshore Sulphate Removal Units (SRU) commissioning in Brazil.

This is an important milestone and this proves our ability to be a preferred player in commissioning projects offshore.

The work was executed by Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Kvaerner Process Systems, a major supplier of water injection and SRU including services.

CCI Wins Major Project Award Print E-mail
In a significant move toward advanced technology, a leading southern utility that operates Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) nuclear power stations across a two-state region recently chose CCI's System-Medium Actuated (SMA) main feedwater isolation valves to replace gas-hydraulic actuated gate valves in a two-unit Westinghouse ice condenser station. Following a year-long study of available industry offerings, including high pressure pneumatic Actuators, the utility selected CCI's fast-acting system-medium actuator and pressure activated double-disk gate valve. CCI's advanced SMA valve for high energy line isolation needs only steam or feedwater for fast closing and normal opening modes. The highly simplified design reduces active sub-component content by 60% and the overall cost of ownership by more than 65% when compared with gas-hydraulic types. CCI's SMA technology is quickly replacing the gas-hydraulic actuated isolation valves previously installed in second-generation commercial nuclear plants throughout the United States and Europe. There are presently more than 200 installed worldwide with 100 of those serving as upgrades for gas-hydraulic valves. No elastomeric seals or gland packings are used in the design, eliminating the high cost of routinely replacing these items. CCI solenoid valves are qualified to the latest PWR high energy pipe break environments, and provide a 40-year qualified life when normally energized. CCI - Control Components Inc. is the world's leading manufacturer of severe service control valves, actuation, silencers and resistors for coal, oil, gas, and nuclear power plants; the oil and gas-producing and hydrocarbon industries; and pulp and paper plants worldwide. Headquartered in Rancho Santa Margarita.CA, and offices worldwide, CCI also operates major design and manufacturing facilities in Switzerland, Sweden, Austria; China, Japan, India, and South Korea.
